Slick's Story...

I was rescued from the porch of my former family’s house in Tonganoxie.  I’m not sure why, but they left us babies along with our Mom and Dad (Pearl and Earl) when they moved out.  Dad and Mom tried very hard to take good care of us, but it was pretty scary and sad out there.  The good folks in Tonganoxie got us taken in by LCHS.  My brother Rusty and I got adopted, but the three-year-old human was allergic to us, so LCHS took us back to try again!  I would love to go to a new forever home where Rusty can come with me, since we've always been together.  We keep each other amused and feeling safe.  We're both nice indoor cats who like everyone (cats, dogs, kids) and ALWAYS use the litter box.  LCHS will let us both go for one adoption fee of $90 which helps pay for our vet care, and allows LCHS to help other pets in the future. To adopt me (and Rusty, please please please!) contact

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Slick, a Lansing Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Lansing, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Lansing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lansing already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lansing breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lansing paves the way for another one to be saved.
