Lena's Story...

A senior gal with a lot of spunk and personality.  Lena’s human passed away, and the surviving family members didn’t want to be bothered – they just wanted Lena and her housemate Sylvester killed!  Luckily, Basehor Animal Control and LCHS knew we could do better than that.  Lena is affectionate, calm, and gets along with other cats once she gets to know them.  She’s pretty much oblivious to dogs.  Lena needs to have canned food because her teeth were so bad, all but a few have been removed.  She’s a perfect companion pet for someone who likes to read, watch TV or movies, or gaze at the brilliant Kansas skyline.  Lena is available for the standard LCHS cat adoption fee of $90, which helps to pay for all the veterinary care she required when she came to us, and allows us to help other pets in the future.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lena, a Lansing Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Lansing, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Lansing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lansing already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lansing breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lansing paves the way for another one to be saved.
