Facts about Sol

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 89652
  • Hair: Unknown
A strong, silent persona emanates from the gorgeous orange fur of this handsome fella' and he's particular about who he counts as a friend and confidant. Sol hasn't been around people much in his life and is trying to figure us out. He's learning that attention (in the form of loving pets and treats) are pretty darn good! Sol would do best in a home without much commotion and with a family who is loving and patient.

*** Another thing to know about Sol is that he is FIV positive. FIV is a lentivirus (or "slow virus") that breaks down a cats immune system. It CANNOT be spread to humans or to any other species other than felines. What's even better is that FIV is not easily spread between cats either. Casual contact (playing, snuggling, litter boxes, water and food bowls) does not spread the virus. It's generally transmitted when free roaming, intact male cats carrying the virus bite and attack other cats. FIV+ cats tend to be the sweetest cats of all because they're the real lovers, not the fighters. Most FIV infected cats show no symptoms for years and maintain a good quality of life with the proper care (housing them indoors, spaying/neutering, feeding them a nutritional/balanced diet, stress management and regular vet visits.) Basically they need the same things that any other cat would to remain healthy.

Our Adoption Process...

We ask potential adopters to fill out a matchmaker form. When they are ready to adopt an animal and the form and interview process indicates a good match, we have the adopter sign an adoption contract promising that the animal will receive good physical and emotional care. Fees vary and we often have adoption specials. Fees for senior pets are sponsored. Otherwise, dogs are $100, puppies $150 and up, cats are $75, kittens are $95.
