I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Powder's Info...

I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Powder's Story...
My name is Powder and I am a very special nine-month-old little boy. My vet says I'm deaf, but I was born this way, so I'm not even sure what I'm missing out on, anyway. I'll need a little extra help, like learning hand signals instead of verbal commands, but I promise I'm smart and I learn fast (as long as there's treats involved)!

I really like other dogs (my best friend is a deaf dog, his mom works at the shelter!) but I'm a crazy puppy. Sometimes I over do it... oops. Chasing and wrestling are my favorite ways to play, so if I have any four-legged siblings, they need to be really active like me- and tolerant enough to teach me good doggy manners!

I was born in June of 2015 (I'm still just a pup!) and weigh about 35lbs (I probably still have a little growing to do, though). My trainer says I'd do great with kids 12+ years old who can help me be comfortable and have fun in my home!

If you have questions about our dogs or adoption process, the quickest way to get more information is to call our front desk at 630-355-2299. You can also visit us online at www.adoptpetshelter.org and look under the Adoptions menu or email our adoption counselors at dogquestions@adoptpetshelter.org

The first step of the process is to stop by our shelter anytime during adoption hours to meet the animals and talk with an adoption counselor to find the pet who’s the right fit for your family. After selecting an animal to adopt, the adoption counselor can place the pet “on hold” for you for a couple of days while we process your application; we’ll talk to your references, have our medical team review the pet’s file to make sure they’ve had all their vaccines & have been microchipped, and tie up any loose ends to get the animal ready to go home. After you’ve been approved, we’ll call to schedule a time for you to pick up your new pet!

(If you currently have a dog, we would ask that you please leave them at home during your initial visit. Once you've picked out an animal and placed a hold, the adoption counselor will help you schedule an appointment to come back with your dog for an introduction at a later time).

Our shelter is located at 420 Industrial Drive in Naperville, IL, and our adoption hours are:

Monday & Wednesday: Closed
Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Thursday 12:00 – 8:00 pm
Friday 12:00 – 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday 12:00 – 3:00 pm

Thank you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Powder, a Naperville Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Naperville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier puppy from a breeder in Naperville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Naperville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Naperville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Naperville paves the way for another one to be saved.
