Ryker's Story...
First officer's log star date 2.12.16: In my continuing mission to find a forever home, I have just arrived in a strange new world. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but once I met the local inhabitants I felt myself right at home! I just love being around people, especially if they give me lots of cuddle-time. It's true, underneath my dashing good looks I'm just a big teddy bear. I'm also quite the quick study- I already have "sit" and "paw" down to a science. With all these wonderful traits, I am more than qualified to join any crew. I would even fit into a home with other canine officers, provided we arrange a meeting first to make sure they can keep up with my energetic play-style. So if you've been looking for the perfect family dog or loyal companion who is equal parts adventure and love, we should talk. One look into my soulful eyes, and you'll be charmed. So if you're ready to fall in love, beam down to the SPCA today. I can't wait to live long and prosper with you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ryker, a Harrisonburg Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
