My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello My name is Sullivan, Sully for short!
I am a two year old GIANT puppy! I'm not your typical English Bulldog, I'm much bigger, rounding out at about 100 lbs, and I still need to gain more weight!! I'm a mix of American Bulldog and English Bulldog, so I am much more athletic and have much more energy then the typical couch potato English Bulldog. Due to my size and energy level I will require a home with a fenced in yard. My life before rescue is unknown. I came into rescue very scared and fearful. I am covered in scares and have splits in my ears, that are most likely due to dog fights. Because my past was unknown my foster home took introductions to new dogs very slowly. They followed a very long separation and introduction plan and meeting my foster brothers was going well. Unfortunately the more my foster family got to know me, they started to realize that I would do best as an only dog. I'm not outwardly aggressive to other dogs, I actually come off as overly interested. I don't bark or growl at dogs while on leash, but I pull and try to run up to other dogs. It's now apparent I wasn't properly socialized in the past, so I respond inappropriately to non aggressive behavior while interacting with other dogs. An adopter with previous big dog and American Bulldog experience would be idea for my adoptive home. Aside from needing to be an only dog, I am a complete marshmallow. I absolutely love to be pet and loved on. I love to play with my wubba kong and love to play fetch! Each morning and evening I get the zoomies and whip around the yard as fast as I can. I'm still very fearful in new situation and take a while to warm up to strangers. Once I'm comfortable with you, I will become your shadow. I love to eat and get treats, I'm very food motivated. Food is a good way to get to know me, and to get me to trust you. I am working on my basic manners in my foster home but I would definitely benefit from the A Sound Beginnings classes. I need to learn to trust you before I will be able to take advantage of traditional training classes. My foster home has gotten me used to the ASB cd and I really enjoy the music when I'm nervous or alone. The calm and stress free environment of the ASB classes would work best for helping gain confidence outside of the home. I'm very frightened of new outside noises, so I would probably do best in a quiet suburban or rural setting. I get scared from loud noises and fast movements indoors too, I even get frighted when my foster family try to quickly reward my good behaviors. I'm just a very nervous guy. Due to my nervousness I tend to have loose stool. I have been checked every which way by the vet and gotten the all clear. When I transition to my new home my nerves will probably get the best of me and I may have a few accidents. My perfect forever home is one that will get to know me slowly in a calm and quiet environment, I will need a very slow transition into the day to day happening of my new home. I will give very clear signals when I am ready to explore more of your daily activity. Its best to take things slow with me so I can feel comfortable as I become a member of your family. If you would like to learn even more about me, or you think I would make a great addition to your family, please ask!

xoxo Sully Bear
