My name is Baron, I am a handsome 4-5 year old golden retriever mix.(The rescue does not know for sure what I am mixed with). I was rescued from a rural shelter in Kentucky where I had been picked up as a stray.. The doctor noticed that I stood with my back foot turned out and did an x-ray. It shows that I have a dislocated hip but it doesn't give me any trouble. I run and walk just fine and the doctor said that there really isn't any reason to try to correct it since I am already healed and am not showing any signs of discomfort. I was also diagnosed with something called "ehrlichia" that I got from a tick because my previous owner didn't keep me on a flea and tick preventative. It isn't anything serious and can be maintained with antibiotics if I have a flare up.
I am entering into a whole new world by being an inside dog , but I am adjusting well. My foster home is introducing me to things such as bowls with food and water, beds, blankets, warm laps to lie in, bones, treats, and even these stuffed animals I am not too sure about yet – just starting to warm up to my rope toy. I am a very calm gentleman; I like to observe everything going around in my surroundings because it's all so new to me. I have yet to meet cats, but I do well at the dog park and in the neighborhood with all dogs with the exception of very small dogs that bark a lot. I also do great with kids of all ages, I love to be touching you and lying around getting my tummy rubbed! I also LOVE to run, ,so a fenced in yard would be great for me to play in. I am also fascinated by human affection and attention that I just never knew existed, I love a good chin scratch and enjoy riding in the car. I am a medium sized fella and weigh around 45 lbs though my fluffy coat makes me look a bit bigger than I really am, I am completely crate trained, I listen so very well and am working on learning some commands. If you are interested in being my forever family, let the rescue know! Applications and adoption info can be found on the website at www.southernrootsrescue.org
