Elmer's Story...
Beautiful Hound Boy

Fostered in Rockville, MD
6/4- My name is Elmer. I was rescued because I was a victim of the Alabama tornadoe. I lost my home and my family. Thankfully a rescue took pitty on me and took me in. I am around 2 years old, and good with other dogs, I am believed to be be a hound mix. I weigh about 60lbs. I love the water, and will make a great family dog. I am sad right now, but I'm hoping the right familly comes along to help me find my way again to happiness. I am a very handsome guy who deserves better.

Fostered in Great Falls, VA

Hello! My name is Elmer. I'm a hound mix, and Mutts Matter thinks I may have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in me too. I'm about a year and a half old, 50lbs, and am a very sweet boy who still has some puppy energy in me. I love to run and play fetch, and when I run and chase the ball, I spring in the air like a deer. I like to go to the dog park and play with my fellow canine buddies, but I'm perfectly happy as an only-pup too. What I love most is to lay right next to you while I chew my bone and just be. I'm potty-trained, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. I know multiple commands - sit, stay, heel - and will come when you call me. I'll do anything for a treat!

I may be young, but I've already learned that life is not fair. I was initially rescued because I was a victim of the Alabama tornado last spring. I lost my home and my family in an instant, and had nowhere to go. Thankfully, Mutts Matter took me in and gave me a 2nd chance.

I thought I'd found my forever family and started my new life, but here I am again searching for my place in the world... I was adopted a few months ago by a couple who promised to love me and give me a good life. Things started off great, but then my dad got deployed, and he and my mom started not getting along and plan to separate. They decided not to keep me even though I did nothing wrong. I'm sad now, but still have hope. The folks at Mutts Matter think I'm a great dog, and are committed to finding me the right family.

I haven't had much stability in my life, so I need a family who will spend some time with me, make me feel secure, and can show me some leadership and consistency. Mutts Matter thinks I would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner and a fenced yard where I can run and play.  Mostly, I'm looking for a family who will love and commit to me, and I will love them back whole-heartedly. I will be the best dog ever if you give me a chance.

My adoption fee includes my neuter, routine vetting and microchip. By adopting me you are giving me a great home, and helping to save the life of another dog in need of rescue. Oh yeah... Roll Tide!

My adoption fee is $300. Apply on line at www.muttsmatterrescue.com

Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Rhodesian Ridgeback for sale in Rockville, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Rhodesian Ridgeback dog from a breeder in Rockville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rockville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rockville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rockville paves the way for another one to be saved.
