Orbit's Story...

Fostered in Columbia, MD
My name is Orbit. I am believed to be 8 weeks old, and weigh about 8bs. I was rescued from a shelter in southern VA.  I was turned in, along with my siblings, where I ended up on death row. I will likely be very energetic as I grow older and will need a home where I'll get plenty of daily exercise and obedience training. They think I am a black lab mix and maybe some doberman. What matters is that I am safe now in a rescue and will get a forever home soon.
I am super sweet and will follow you everywhere.

Approximate weight: 8 lbs

Approximate age: 8 weeks

Cratetrained: yes

Personality: Sweet, playful-like most puppies

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered , you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many!

Want to meet a handful of dogs in person? Check out a list of our upcoming pet adoption events.

Be sure to ask us about getting a free 30-minute phone consult with a professional dog trainer within the first 30 days of adopting - just for MMR adopters.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Orbit, a Rockville Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Rockville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Rockville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rockville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rockville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rockville paves the way for another one to be saved.
