From Rudy's foster Mom:

UPDATE ON RUDY'S SIGHT PROBLEMS:    Rudy gets around very well, both inside and out.  If I should change direction on him, for example while walking through the house when he is going the same direction heading for a treat or to go out, it takes him a second to catch on, and we may lightly bump, but he really is not handicapped very much at all.  I have been cleaning the porch over several days, and leaving furniture, etc., in different places than normal.  Doesn't faze him at all.

We still feel Rudy would need a fenced yard or should be on a leash at all times  when he is  outside

Rudy, I have been told, is a Deerhound.  He apparently had been running loose for some time before making his way to my house.  He is about three years old, and is a "Special Needs" dog, because he has a congenital eye disease called Mydriasis that has robbed him of  some of his sight.  The vet doesn't think he will lose any more.  In spite of his problems, he gets around fairly well and off-leash he chooses to run, not walk.  The other day, he was chasing flying bugs in the back yard!  He also likes cats.  His adoption donation is $150.00.

If you are interested in this pet, please go to apsofpc.org and fill out the non-binding Adoption Application.  After we process it, we will contact you if  your application is accepted.

About ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY OF PERSON COUNTY

About Our Rescue Group...

Animal Protection Society of Person County is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are a group of volunteers who open our hearts and homes to the homeless, neglected, and abused animals. We rescue animals from the shelter that are in danger of being euthanized and we take in owner surrenders. We receive no public funding. Donations are our main source of income. We are always in need of more foster homes. Without our fosters, we could not function. APS is an organization which is over 20 years old and we hope to serve our area for many more years to come.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our pets are in foster homes. In order to meet them we ask that you fill out our nonbinding adoption application on our website. Our adoption coordinator will then call you to set up a time and place for you to meet the animal. We participate in several "Meet & Greet" events each year. It is possible to meet our animals at these events, but we do not bring all animals to all evens.

Our Adoption Process...

• Due to the rising cost of veterinary care, and to ensure we can continue to save animals in danger, along with providing excellent vetting care, our adoption fees range from $75 - $400 to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm test, and any medical needs the animal incurred while in our care. We operate only on contributions from our supporters and are very grateful for their support.
• Our Adoption Process:
• Complete Adoption Application
• Phone interview
• Vet reference check
• Meet with your pet of interest
A home Visit is done and the animal meets all members of your family. We require a signed contract with the adopter with an agreement to return the animal to APS if the adopter cannot continue to care for their animal
