My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SAMMIE: 6 Year Old Spayed Yellow Female Lab 72 Pounds

Sammie has been with the same family since she was a puppy. The three teenagers are now in college and mom and dad work long hours so decided that it wasn't fair to leave Sammie home alone for so long. She stayed in a 5 x 10 foot kennel on the porch. She was very exuberant anytime a human would come around. She longed to be part of the pack so her family decided the right thing to do was to surrender her to Lab Rescue.

From Sammie's trainer/foster:

Upon arrival to the trainer, Sammie was an anxious excited dog. She needed to learn communication, structure, obedience and to focus. Sammie is now a very happy girl who just wanted to have a good time all the time. She is looking for someone that is very interested in continuing to work on her obedience, teach her tricks and set clear boundaries while letting her experience everything she can about the world. She would love lots of exercise or someone to run with, and wants to engage. She will not do well in a home where she will be alone for long periods of time daily or with a family that is not interested in training as a lifestyle. Sammie could be in a home with another dog or as an only dog. A young dog would better appreciate her energy level. She cannot go to a home with children under 13 years old.

From Sammie's Rep:

Sammie has come a long way since coming to Lab Rescue thanks to her trainer. She is housebroken and sleeps thru the night in her crate. Sammie has had too much time alone and without any structure and this girl deserves to be part of the family. Lab Rescue wants someone who is home most of the day to continue on this new positive path that she has been given. She requires someone with Lab experience as well as being a strong leader, not only in physical strength but a strong leader to continue the structure, guidance, exercise and training. Any children in the house must be in the teenage years or older as she is physically strong. She would make a good partner for a jogger or a hiking companion and her new owner must be committed to lots of daily exercise. A cat-free home is best.

Sammie is healthy, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is located in San Pablo.

If you think you have what it takes to continue working with this beautiful girl please call Rescue Rep Sandy @ 650-303-2436. Please leave good days/times for callbacks.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
