Handsome Hal, aka Halibut or Halephant, is an under-the-covers sleeper. All day and night if you let him. Hal was fortunate enough to be spared from a local shelter that is trying to go no-kill. OAR immediately put him on the Freedom Ride Bus to Joanie Bernard Home for Cats to search for his forever loving home. Hal is spending time in a foster home “working the bugs out,” and learning what love and a happy home are all about. He is wondering why he couldn’t have had it this nice from his very beginning. His foster mom just tells him sometimes there are bumps in the road on the way to happiness, but it should be pretty smooth here on out; OAR will help him find his ‘purr’fect home and family. Hal has a very sweet voice that let’s you know he desires attention. One of his favorite food dishes is Fancy Feast; and for dessert, catnip please. Currently, he does not seem to relish other cats, but there is always a possibility that could change. Hal is a gorgeous charcoal gray boy who cannot wait to grow back into his fur. He had to have surgery to remove a very large hairball; so, a serious haircut and shave had to be performed. Since Hal has all this fabulous long hair (or soon will have), he should probably be on hairball control food, and or paste, for the rest of his life. He is a big boy with proper litter box habits, and he certainly maintains his cleanliness. He wants to look his very best for his people. Hal just wants to be loved. He's a big handsome man looking for the perfect place to sleep. Can he have a permanent sleepover at your place?..

Our Adoption Process...

We have many cats and kittens looking for wonderful homes! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $50. Because we like for our cats to go home in pairs, we have a standing 2 for 1 adoption special -- you can adopt 2 cats for one fee of $50.

Meet some of our cats and kittens, and fill out an application today! An OAR representative will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We do require a phone screening before an adoption so if you are coming to visit the cats and hope to take a cat or kitten home that day, fill out and submit the application at least a day beforehand so we can pre-approve your adoption.

As of 3/7/12, our adoption policy requires that the adopters of our cats not declaw the cats, no matter what the cat's age. We will, with our adoption counselors' help, provide potential adopters with information on alternatives to declawing. We also sometimes have previously declawed cats up for adoption. These can be a good alternative for adopters who are adamant about declawing.
