Big Boy's Story...
Big Boy is such a sweet kitty! This handsome 8 year old was a stray who really wants to be a pet. Big Boy is FIV + which is not transferable to dogs or humans. He can live with other FIV + cats too. Big Boy has really neat markings on his ears. He is a such nice kitty. If you are looking for a great cat you should meet Big Boy.

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) has been associated with cats for many years, although it was only labelled as such as recently as 1986. The virus depletes the number of white blood cells, which eventually makes the cat less able to fight off infection. However, because it is such a slow acting virus many FIV positive cats can enjoy a normal lifespan with no apparent health problems resulting from the virus.

All cats receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed and spayed/neutered and feline leukemia tested. Cats 3 months and older are micro-chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Big Boy, a Elyria Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
