Finn's Story...
Approx. birthdate: December 7, 2013. Meet Finn! Finn was rescued on Christmas Eve on the freeway in Detroit. He has been with the same foster since then and is doing well. He came to us on the thinner side and had a hernia which has now been repaired. It was also discovered that he had stage 1 heartworm. He has had all treatment done and at this point, we are just making sure he continues on the right path. Finn is very well mannered and his foster mom has bonded with him very well. He used to live outside and was used for a breeding dog so he is still becoming accustomed to the house life. He has been kept in a large kennel and has caught on to being potty trained, but will need someone to make sure he has a scheduled feeding and goes outside regularly. He loves to play ball and enjoys being with his foster mom. Finn really gravitates to one person, and that's where he stays loyal too. He has been walked with other dogs and does well, but he needs to be introduced to another dog beforehand. It is unknown if he is okay with cats. He is best suited for someone who has had German Shepherds in the past, as they are a breed that needs proper training.
Finn will still need some follow up care for his heartworm treatment that our rescue will cover at our vet, but if we find the right home who would be willing to keep him quiet for a bit longer and continue his follow up, we would be willing to adopt him out.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Finn, a Sterling Heights German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Sterling Heights, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Sterling Heights.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sterling Heights already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sterling Heights breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sterling Heights paves the way for another one to be saved.
