Newman is a stray that showed up at his foster home on a snowy, sleeting day in February 2012. Newman was a young dog when he arrived and his estimated date of birth is 4/1/2011.
Because of Newman's tall erect ears and his coloring, he is thought to be a Carolina Dog mix. He is a medium sized dog weighing 40-45# and stands about 17-18' at the shoulder. He is a super friendly dog, both with people and with other animals. He gets along great with the other foster dogs and is very inquisitive of the cats. Newman has not been around children so it is not known how he would do with them.
Newman loves to run, run, run. He would do well with a family who is very active, who will exercise him frequently and spend a lot of time with him. He is very smart and learns quickly. Newman would be a great candidate for agility training or chasing a frisbee. Newman does walk on a leash but needs more work on this as well as learning manners and basic commands. He recuperated from his neuter surgery in a crate but he should only be crated for short periods of time because he is a very active boy. Newman may have been an inside dog at one time because he did very well in his crate and he also did not want to soil his pen.
Newman has been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He tested negative for heartworms and has been placed on monthly preventative. For more information on Newman, please contact Sharon at email@example.com
