My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruger is an adorable, black and tan, male German Shepherd mix. He is approximately two years old and weighs 60 pounds.
He is good with kids, other dogs and cats. Ruger has a medium-high energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. He is an active boy and would make a great running and/or hiking partner.

ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog and the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program.

The cost of adoption is $500 which includes the $250 adoption fee and a training fee of $250 due at the time of adoption.
For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.
The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.).

PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.
