Age: approx  3 years old

Weight: 15 lbs

This adorable young boy was found as a stray in rural Tennessee and was almost immediately scheduled for euthanasia for one reason: he was absolutely terrified.
Trembling, shaking and unable to even return a gaze, Pixel was such a pathetic sight in his cage he touched the heart of the shelter workers who saw this sweet boy's potential and called FOHA. In a moment everything changed; Pixel's life was saved.
Now in an active foster home, Pixel adores romping and rolling about with his many foster brothers and sisters. He absolutely loves other dogs and is never happier than when he is playing or cuddling up with them. He will walk around the house with a tennis ball in his mouth or head through the doggie door to go out to the yard to play.
But Pixel still has a ways to go with people, he is still very timid. He will brush up against his foster mom and lick her hand but if she walks toward him, he will retreat. He will rush to the door, tail wagging, when she comes home from work, but if she reaches out to pet him, he will run away.
Pixel's foster mom must throws treats to him, he will not take them from her hand.
But Pixel is improving every day and he is very much worth the effort--this is a quiet and easy going dog, he uses the doggie door and does his business outside, he is not at all destructive. When he was first rescued he was found to be heartworm positive but Pixel has been treated and is now healthy.
What Pixel needs is a home with at least one other dog who likes to play, and a special owner who will give this little guy the time he needs to feel safe. For now, he is the perfect addition to a family looking for a friendly companion for another dog. In time, we believe he will be a loving companion for his owner as well.

About Friends of Homeless Animals, Inc.(FOHA)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a volunteer group that are helping primarily Boston Terriers, Boston mixes and other small dogs when resources permit. We rescue locally and all around the country - if our need help is needed.
  • We do not have a shelter so there are no set visiting hours or place to visit. We foster all the dogs in foster homes in various locations.

    We need foster parents!

We cannot save any dogs without volunteers to help foster our animals. Please help us to help them - become a foster parent.

Donations are gladly accepted and appreciated.
If you cannot adopt a dog, foster a dog or donate your time, we have made it easy for you to make a donation online.
Donations can be made securely by Paypal:

  • Come Meet Our Pets...

We do NOT have a shelter. All our dogs are fostered in individual homes. Meetings are by appointment only after you have completed our online application. THANKS!

    Our Adoption Process...

Our dogs listed on Adopt a Pet all have initials following the name of the dog. The initials show the State: RI, CT, NJ, NY, etc. where these dogs are being fostered.
If you see a dog with initials after the name of the dog, these are dogs that are not in our LOCAL area but transport will be arranged for those dogs. For example: W, CF, M, RH, etc.

Please remember that we are ALL volunteers & will respond to you as quickly as we can in all communications. We are not paid volunteers and try to keep the phones and emails manned but sometimes there may be a lapse in time. We appreciate your patience.

Step 1 - Complete an online application -

Step 2 - Please reserve your dog by making a $200 deposit on Paypal -

E-mail address to use for deposit (which is applied toward total donation) is:

You can meet any of our local dogs with JUST an online application and NO deposit, but must be approved, etc. 1st in order to take your dog home.

Step 3 - Let your references know that a volunteer will be contacting them.

Step 4 - Once your references are contacted, a volunteer will be in touch to arrange your home visit.

Step 5 - Once you have been approved, pick up information, balance due, and adoption contract will be e-mailed to you.

Please remember our dogs generally all have a pull fee from a shelter, LOTS of vet costs for initial shots and tests, spay or neuter, and then transport costs to bring the dogs to our area. This is just the beginning of the costs for a rescue. We then depend on our volunteers to buy the dog food, we pay for any additional vetting costs and grooming for the dog. There are many costs and we depend on our adoption donations to HELP pay our costs. We are a non-profit charity 501(c)3 and depend on donations for rescuing our dogs. Most times, the adoption fee does not cover the costs associated with that dogs rescue costs.

Donations are listed on each dog's description.

Click here to complete our online application!

References listed on your application will be checked prior to any meetings with a dog. We do require a HOME VISIT PRIOR to any adoption.

Some dogs are local, but many are not - they are in various locations so it will not be possible to meet some of them before you adopt.

We only will transport the dogs if you make a firm commitment and a $200 DEPOSIT as the paid transport is costly & difficult to arrange & we do not have enough foster homes.

Deposit Donations can be made by Paypal:
