My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated 20 Feb 16

Guess what??? My brother is all better and that means WE ARE READY for our forever home. I am super excited. I have been working hard on the gentle leader and am pretty confident with it on now. I have STILL not chewed anything but my kongs and bones. No shoes or anything not made for me. I can not stress enough how much I love to kiss. Oh my word if you do not like kisses then I may not be for you. I love any and everyone. I used to follow my brother around ALL the time when he was sick. I just wanted to make sure he was ok. Now I can play separate but we still need to be together because he is my best friend and BETTER yet…you won’t need to worry when you are away that I will be lonely because I won’t. It’s a win win situation.  My brother and I both know sit and down and I try and give paw but with these big feet you have to watch out..lol. I lay on my back a LOT and LOVE the bed. I am happy now that Rex feels better and we want to make your home complete. Please consider us as an addition to your family.

Nike continues to impress everyone he encounters. His personality is coming out and he is nothing short of majestic. His lust for giving kisses has grown and if you deny him he will give air kisses as close as he can to your face. He is a doll. He has been given plenty of bones and a kong and guess what….NO SHOES CHEWED and with his foster family having 2 children there are unfortunately ALWAYS shoes available. He has also not destroyed any teddy bears or anything else for that matter. He does need available items to chew but traditional dog bones etc are more than enough to satisfy his need for chewing.

Nike is doing wonderfully with training. He is a real pleaser and loves praise. Of course it is always a little easier to train (at least start) with snacks so the boys both get salmon bits when they respond well to training. Both boys are well-mannered and truly only need a dog savy owner. They both are obedient and disciplined.

Nike, like his brother, will now not get in the shower. He waits for you to get out, sniffs to make sure you are still who you say you are and jumps back on the bed. He is just as playful as before but has opened up his heart and almost smiles to welcome you home. He will however stand by you as you brush your teeth and attempt to drink from the faucet. Super cute. Neither of the boys are toilet babies so no need to worry there

Nike has been sleeping in his open crate. He needs to touch something or someone and it is cute how he puts himself to bed in there. His need to be in the same room with you has STRONGLY diminished. He just needs a little time to feel out his surroundings and he is just fine. Please do not get me wrong, as long as you want him to be pet by you is as long as he will stay but he is not as Velcro as before.

Nike and Rex are deserving of a forever home and will be adopted together once Rex gets over this last hurdle.

Meet sweet Nike. He came into rescue in December 2015 with his brother Rex.
Nike is a playful 2 1/2 year old 150lb blue Dane with natural ears.

Nike is a very smart boy and has a lot of love to give. He is an extremely obedient dog and has so much love to give. Nike has mastered "sit". We are working on "down" and "stay" and "shake". He is a quick learner and food motivated so it will not take long. Nike is house broken, crate trained, great with dogs of all ages and cats too. Nike is also very good with children. Nike is not vocal at all. Makes funny noises when he yawns but
that's about it.

Nike LOVES to give kisses....LOTS and LOTS and LOOOOOTS of kisses. He is a very affectionate dog and needs to be in the same room with you. Some of that behavior comes from the brothers (Rex and Nike) being separated from the family due to Rex's medical conditions so we feel he will lessen the need to be in direct line of site with his owners over time. He doesn’t need to necessarily touch you (but that is preferred) as long as he can see you he is ok.

Nike is a treasure. This is truly going to be a hard foster to let go. His fur is soooo soft and he is such a joy to have around. Like most Danes, he does not know his size and thinks he is a lap dog. He will crawl in your
lap and lay there contently as long as you let him. He is also is a lover of a shower. What better thing can their be other than a Great Dane that loves to take a bath 

Now...with all the plusses of this sweet baby, there has to be a down side right???? Nike loves stuffing....not out of your couch but teddy bears don't stand a chance and neither do shoes. You have to put them away. Nike
also counter surfs so put it away or put it up. He is obedient and when I tell him to get out of the kitchen he listens but the face will get you every time.

Nike is bonded with his brother and looks out for him. It is super sweet the way the 2 of these guys get along. Nike gets a little anxious when Rex is away so we are placing these babies together.
