Marvin's Story...
"Aarf aarf aarf!" Is this a baby otter or a seal pup?! No, this is Marvin, a snuggly and calm 12 pound, 2-3 year old Dachshund mix. He was surrendered with his sister and brother to the Valencia county shelter, and he was so scared there that his mood deteriorated quickly. But he's made a tremendous rebound with the help of his awesome foster. Marvin is a sweet gentleman. He enjoys snuggling with his person on the couch. Marvin gets along with other dogs and is house trained. He's a calm to medium energy dog and would do best in a relaxed home. If you would like to make Marvin part of your family, please complete an online application at and be sure to include his name at the top.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marvin, a Tijeras Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Tijeras, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Tijeras.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tijeras already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tijeras breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tijeras paves the way for another one to be saved.
