My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jessa is such a little ham! She is super sweet, goofy, and loves to play. She has somehow learned that making her people laugh is a good thing, so she has mastered the art of tickling you and bounding around after a tennis ball or a stick like a goofball. It's like the laughter itself is a reinforcing treat so she keeps doing whatever she's doing to make you laugh more. She is really a wonderful soul. She also likes play wrestling and is amazingly gentle when she uses her mouth and will paw at you like a cat. So ridiculous!

While she is an only child in our home, she likes other dogs and got along really well with the dogs in her prior foster's home (in Kentucky). She did not like the cat she met at Intake, but we aren't really sure if this was the stressful situation or if she just doesn't like cats. We are still working on potty training, which is more successful if she sleeps in her kennel at night. I do think she would like to sleep in bed with her future family one day, but she would also be ok with continuing to sleep in her kennel. When she is alone during the day she is kept in a spare bedroom. This little cuddle bug can't wait to meet you! Jessa is estimated to be about 1 year old and weighs about 17 pounds. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday March 19, 2016, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
