Handsome Rusty is an approximately 3-4 y/o fully-vetted, male german shepherd mix and weighs about 60 pounds. He is a sweet, smart, active boy looking to bond with and be someone's forever pet.

He is not reactive to dogs or cats and attends doggie daycare. He does know sit, high five and is doing pretty well on down. He is very food motivated and was doing okay on house training in his previous foster home. He walks reasonably well on a leash, if he has had the proper amount of daily exercise.

Rusty does tend to talk with his mouth by grabbing your arm and also initiates play by being very mouthy. Rusty is from a rural area and we have heard he lived on a chain for a while.

We're seeking an experienced dog owner for a foster or adoptive home for Rusty. Ideally someone who will be able to give him enough exercise by walking him or running with him. If there are children in the home, they must be older dogwise teens. Rusty is in boarding and will need some training after he gets into a home and decompresses a bit. A trainer will be provided to a foster or adoptive home.If you have any questions or would like to meet this pet, please email contact@stlpetrescue.com. Information about the rescue and adoption process can also be found at stlpetrescue.com along with a full listing of our adoptable pets.

About St. Louis Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and other neglect situations.

We do not have a facility. All of the pets we rescue are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care training, and, if needed, rehabilitation to the pets. This also allows the pet to be more adjusted when they enter their forever home since they are used to a home environment (versus a kennel at the pound).
