Hurley is a 11 y/o white/brown/black male chihuahua mix that weighs 9 pounds. He is shy at first and takes a bit to warm up to you but once he does he follows you around all the time. Although at times he still seems a little unsure and can be easily startled. He is a very friendly and sweet boy that loves attention! He has a big dog bed that he is content laying on if your lap is not available. He also loves to sleep under blankets and if you let him will sleep in your bed under the blankets. Don't let his age fool you, he is a young 11 year old. He does really well on a leash and loves going for walks. Hurley is friendly with other dogs but not sure about cats. He would do best in a home with no children and no large dogs. He barks very little but will certainly alert you to someone is at the door or another dog is on TV. He is house trained and will go to the door and whine to go outside. Hurley has Addison's disease and takes Prednisone 1.25mg every morning, he is super at taking his pill. He eats 1/4 cup of Blue Buffalo Turkey & Potato formula twice per day. He only has 6 teeth but has no problem eating his hard kibble food. He is micro-chipped, current on all his vaccinations and heart worm negative. His adoption fee is $300.

About Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota

About Our Rescue Group...

Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (SDR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer no-kill group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs 20 pounds and under.

Dogs are fostered in volunteers' homes so they can be loved like a family member until they are placed in a suitable adoptive home, determined by a review of a written application, a criminal background check, several reference consultations, and a home visit.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold adoption events a few times a month in different locations throughout Minnesota. You can see where we'll be by visiting our Events Page on our website at

Our Adoption Process...

1. Complete an adoption application at:

2. Allow up to 10 days for SDR to process your adoption application. It will be reviewed by an SDR representative and references will be checked.

3. If the application is aproved, a home visit will be conducted to ensure a good match with the applicant & the dog.

4. If SDR determines a good match has been made, an adoption contract between the adopter and SDR will be completed. An adoption fee + applicable MN state sales tax are due at the time the contract is signed.
