Remington AKA Remy's Story...
Remy is a BIG boy with a sad story. His owners left him outside to fend for himself, where he was hit by a car. He was taken by a neighbor to a vet, but when the owners were called they said to put him down, they didn't want to deal with the expense. The vet had them sign him over to them and they did the surgery on Remy's broken hip. During recovery, he was tested for FIV and FELV, and he tested positive for FIV.

FIV is not as big a deal as it used to be, as it is far more understood now. It's not highly contagious and does not equal a death sentence- as long as the cat is well taken care of, kept current on vaccines and taken to the vet yearly, the cat can likely have a normal lifespan with few health problems. Please don't let FIV scare you!

Remy is incredibly sweet and laid back. He gets along instantly with other cats, dogs and people! He's also quite the chunkster!

Remy is about three years old, fully vaccinated, and neutered. His hip has healed but he may always have a slight limp and could develop arthritis in the joint down the road. His weight will need to be managed, he's quite rotund! Email us at waywardwhiskerscatrescue@hotmail.com to give Remy the home he deserves. Due to his special needs, his adoption fee is waived.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Remington AKA Remy, a San Antonio Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in San Antonio, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in San Antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
