Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It's the dog days of summer and Saving Grace wants to celebrate! Now through September 30 all of our dogs over one year old will have their adoption fee reduced to $175 during this special. Charley is hoping this helps him find his forever home soon!
Charley is a sweet little terrier mix around 23 lbs. At around 9 years old, Charley has been through more trauma than any dog should ever have to. You see, Charley never received flea or tick medication. Because of this, he contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, along with a few other tick borne diseases. Charley has gone through antibiotics for these, but in addition to them, he has a condition called immune mediated polyarthritis. This means that his immune system is attacking his joints. He also has ruptured ligaments in his two back legs. Because of this, when Charley came to us, he could, not walk more than 5-6 steps. Now, after several months of medications, Charley is walking! He will never win any races, but he is able to amble around the yard and smell the flowers. He will need to stay on a lowered dose of these medications for the rest of his life, however, they are fairly inexpensive medications.
Going through all of this pain and stress should be enough to make even the nicest dog grumpy. But not Charley! His foster mom jokes that she can always tell where Charley is because is tail is beating against the wall. He has never met a human he doesn't like, and is very good with kids. He tolerates cats, even silly kittens who think his wagging tail is a fun play toy!
Charley would love a home where he can spend his last several years being loved. Could that be with you?
