Meet our beautiful LuLu.
LuLu had an interesting story. For the first part of her life, she was the companion of a homeless man. He loved her very much but due to his circumstances, she was tied up at his camp a lot and she became their guard dog. Unfortunately, as often happens in those situations, LuLu found herself pregnant and her owner reached out for help to Angel Hearts Rescue, who helps homeless people and their pets in the Kansas City area. LuLu was placed in foster care where she had her puppies and they were weaned. LuLu was spayed and once her puppies were all adopted she was returned to her owner. Due to medical issues, her owner was later placed in an apartment where LuLu could not stay with him. She is now back in her foster home and looking forward to the next part of her life in a loving, indoor, forever home. Foster Mom describes her as one of the most loving and protective dogs she has ever had. She is described as active and playful. She is quite intelligent and very trainable and would do best in an active family. She would be a great running partner. Foster Mom says she has quite the personality and is often making people laugh.

Because of LuLu's upbringing, she has a few personality "quirks" that her family will need to understand. She can be wary of strangers and new people in the house. With her history of being the guard dog at her camp where people may not have always been safe, you can understand why. She needs to get to know you before she will trust you but once she knows you, she'll never leave your side. She is highly prey driven and may have had to catch her own food in the past so she should not be around any small animals or cats. She can also jump high fences to try to escape. She would do best in a home with a large backyard with a 6 foot privacy fence. She does well with other dogs but they must allow her to be dominant. She would be find with a home with older children, but no younger kids as they are likely too playful for her.

If you think you could be the special home that this fantastic girl deserves, please contact us at LuLu is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $175.
