My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What’s red and white and short all over? I am! Even though I’m tiny, I have a huge personality and lots of heart. I come from southern Illinois and less than ideal circumstances, but you would never know it from my exuberant disposition. I love my new life. I have ropes and bones and balls and a warm comfy bed and humans who laugh at me all the time. My foster mama swears I'm a puppy in disguise because I’m finding so much mischief. I tend to make the most trouble when my people are home and not paying me enough attention. I like to help carry things like shoes and slippers and brushes. And toilet paper is tons of fun.

I walk well on a leash and I love to sniff things. When I find a good smell, I have a super funny howl that I share with everyone so that they can come sniff it too. I also tend to howl when I misplace my humans or if I see people outside the window. Therefore, I would not be good in an apartment. It’s amazing that such a noise can come out such a tiny dog. My mama thought I was hurt the first time she heard it, but she’s decided I’m a bit of a drama king.

I get along with my foster brothers and I bring out the playful side of my alpha sister. I’m tiny at 19 lbs with short little legs, so Mama thinks I’ve got some dachshund relatives. She also thinks it’s giving me a bit of a Napoleon complex because I have some alpha tendencies. I don't start trouble, but I’m not easily intimidated and I’m pretty persistent when I want to play.

Since I’m so playful, I really need to be in a home with a playful dog or kids to help me channel my energy. I’m the perfect age if I do say so myself because I love to play, but I also love naps and I’m a fantastic snuggler!
