Since she is a "special needs" pup, Safra does need a special person, especially in the beginning to give her the love and patience she needs. Due to this condition, Safra does have a certain amount of anxiety and shyness when meeting new people. However, her Foster Mom tells us that these days when Safra is not busy playing with a toy, she likes nothing more than to curl up in the Foster Mom's lap or by her side for a cuddle and petting.
Unlike many dogs with anxiety, she mainly takes this out on herself. There is not yet a cure for her condition but it is manageable with medication, which she is currently on and has shown significant improvement. She would do best in a calm household, no children under 12 years of age and no cats because she does like to chase them!
If you are interested in Safra, please complete the on-line application as she does not always attend the weekly adoption event on Saturdays at PETCO. You can also contact us for more information at: firstname.lastname@example.org.

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply.
