My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR welcomes Trooper into the safety of the rescue!!!!

Trooper is a beautiful male German Shepherd. He is a large boy, weighing in at 90 lb. Trooper is a very intense, protective and territorial German Shepherd. Trooper likes other dogs and would get along fine with a large breed female. We do require in his case a Fenced yard due to his protective nature. We feel it would be best in his case.
Trooper needs a strong Female Handler meaning a woman that is more of a Type A personality,
not one that is rough or harsh by any means, but a female that is Firm, Assertive and confident handling a Large Male GS, Trooper has been living with our trainer who has been working with him,
He is close to Advanced obedience trained, all 100% positive reinforcement training.
Note From Foster: Sweet and loving couch potato inside the house, loves to play with toys, house trained but he is crated at night. He now knows sit, stay, wait, down, down stay, shake, focus, heel, easy for a treat, Aus for out, he loves to play with all dogs small or large. He is fine with people approaching when outside on his walk or Home Depot but when he is inside his yard or the house he is a fierce protector. Other than that he is a whiny boy.
He is definitely more cautious and standoffish with men and needs a proper introduction with a man. He prefers women and he is fine and very good with children. Previous owner had a toddler. Not good with cats. However we prefer to put him in a home with adults who are experienced with working dogs. If you feel you have the experience and ability to love and work with a dog like Trooper who will put himself in your life as your friend and protector, then please apply with Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue.
If you would like to adopt Trooper, please copy the link below and fill out an application.
