Meet Rossi and Geo, the cutest, sweetest best friends; they are a bonded pair who will only be placed together. They have been together their entire lives; they turn 10 years old this year. They are typical, sweet, loving, needy, clingy Italian Greyhounds whose favorite things are sun bathing, going for walks, being with their favorite person and eating. They are neutered, have had recent dentals and are happy healthy little men. They are 100% potty trained to take themselves outside to potty so fenced, secure outdoor space is a must for potty and sunbathing. They are currently on a feeding regimen of three small meals a day which helps them maintain their ideal 10 pound weights and to provide them with balanced healthy digestive systems. Geo has two sets of spinal discs that cause him some pain; he is on a daily, low dose of pain medication that completely mitigates his discomfort. He is active, playful and pain free. He will require this medication permanently along with two supplements; the cost for his on-going medications is $50.00 a month. While the boys are happy and active they do require a home environment that is calm, balanced and nurturing. We will not place them in a home with children or in an environment that is high tension or stress. They are very social and enjoy daily walks, meeting new people and other dogs but in their home they prefer to be the center of attention. If you are retired or work from home, are an experienced companion of Italian Greyhounds and are looking for two best friends to keep you busy and to be your constant companions then these boys could be for you.

These dogs are being fostered in San Diego. About Italian Greyhound Rescue Southern California

About Our Rescue Group...

Rescue is a service provided for Italian Greyhounds that have been abandoned at animal shelters, taken from abusive homes, or surrendered to Rescue due to the death or divorce of the former owner. Occasionally, dogs are turned over to Rescue because the owner can no longer keep the dog and the dog was acquired from a source to which it cannot be returned.

IG Rescue members foster these orphans in their homes, where their health and temperament are evaluated, so that they can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and new owners. Before being placed all dogs are taken for a veterinary check-up where vaccinations are updated, the animal is neutered or spayed, any serious medical conditions are treated, and if necessary, their teeth are cleaned. Each Italian Greyhound can potentially cost Rescue hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars to rehabilitate. All members of Italian Greyhound Rescue, from the board of directors to your local representatives, are strictly volunteers, and do not receive any compensation for their services.

Our Adoption Process...

The process to become approved for adoption includes an application, phone interview, and home visit. Once you are approved, and if one of the fosters fits your lifestyle and needs, as determined by the home visit, we will put you in touch with the foster home where you can go to visit the dog. If we don't have a fit, we will put you on a matching list.

The adoption fees are as follows:
Up to 6 months $375
7 Months to 2 Years $350
3 Years to 8 Years $325
Over 8 years $300

These fees are sent to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Fund to offset the cost of medical expenses of the dog being placed, and provide medical care for future rescue dogs.
