Pricilla's Story...
We rescued Pricilla in June 2014 from the Post Road Vet Clinic in MWC after we received a call from the lady who rescued Pricilla's mom. "Mom" was a pregnant stray and this lady scooped her up and took her to the clinic where she gave birth on April 24th. When the clinic couldn't find homes for all the kittens she called us. Pricilla was adopted to a nice family in December 2014 but had to come back last month due to some serious family issues that left her unattended for long periods of time. Pricilla was an only pet in her previous home and would probably do best in a similar situation (she was quite upset at seeing dogs in her foster home). She slept in bed with her previous owner and there was a small girl in her home that was her best friend. Pricilla isn't fond of pet carriers and her new owner should purchase a large one to take her back and forth to the vet for her annual exams. She eats dry food and was a little nervous for a few days in her foster home but it didn't take her long to settle in and now she is quite affectionate. She is up-to-date on her vaccines and looking for a new home with a loving family. All PAWS-OK cats and kittens have been fostered in a home environment and are litter box trained, up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered and have been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV prior to being made available for adoption. The adoption fee is $70 (cash only). Some of our cats are available for adoption at the PetSmart on NW Expressway and Rockwell in OKC. Please check our website at pawsok.com and go to the "Adopt" tab to see a list of those currently available in the PetSmart Adoption Center. The first step in adoption is to complete an Adoption Request form which we use to help us match you with a cat or kitten that best meets your desires, experience and home environment. You can request one via e-mail at: pawsok@sbcglobal.net, download one on our website at www.pawsok.com or pick one up at our Adoption Center inside PetSmart. Thanks for adopting a rescued cat - they make the best pets!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pricilla, a Oklahoma City Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Oklahoma City, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Oklahoma City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oklahoma City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oklahoma City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oklahoma City paves the way for another one to be saved.
