What is my personality like? Toto is a very loyal, sweet dog. He is the type of dog that will bond with you and be your little shadow. Toto is not the type of dog that will run right up to you, he will need some patience. Once he warms up to you, he will be your best friend and lap dog. He is very food motivated and loves treats. He gets along great with other dogs.
Update 11/7/20116: To-to is very descicive on who he wants to love. He is not one that can be won over just from a simple "hey". He is excellent on a leash and allows you to lead him. To-to says that his love is given on his terms to who he pleases.. But once he loves you there's no getting rid of him! He will sit in your lap all day with out a question. Every bit of patience will be totally worth it with To-To and he will be sure to thank you.
Update notes from caregiver 2/16/2017:-
I chose to spend my time this evening with my main man Toto. We got to walk the trail a bit and he stuck by my side on a leash the whole way. He's fantastic walking on a leash. I'm not sure if it's because he's bonded to me or not, but knowing that he's capable of such good behavior when he does walk on a leash with his future adopter is good to know. He doesn't listen to commands, but he prefers to be nice and close to his owner. He will put his feet on your legs asking to be picked up.
He can be picky with other dogs his size, but lately he hasn't had an issue with any. I guess the more time he spends with them, the better off he accepts them.
I haven't had a messy crate with him and when he eats he takes his time.
Toto is a really good dog but will take a bit of time to really bond with his owner. He will usually give you an attitude at first, but I love this boy!!
Who I am seeking: Experienced, adult only home.
Age: est 1.5 years old
Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them!
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
