My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello lab lovers, the names Jack Boy! I’m a whopping 75 lb. black lab who is 9 years young! I may have a sugar face and sugar-dipped socks, but I have the heart of a puppy! My old man grunts give my age away more than anything. Choose me as your new family member and you will wake up to a paw, big brown eyes, and an unstoppable tail every morning. I LOVE people! They make me so happy that I love to squeeze in-between their legs and rub my head on them to make sure they know how much I love them! I also enjoy the company of other dogs. They don’t make me as happy as humans make me, but they are fun for gentle play and snuggles! I have lots and lots of patience so puppies or hyper dogs don’t make me go crazy. And although I have not been tested with tiny humans or cats, I am mellow enough that I won’t have a problem trying new things!

My favorite parts of the day are coming inside, when the humans come home or wake up, oh and meal time!! I get so excited, I jump around like a bucking bronco! I know basic commands like sit, down, stay, and shake. I will even sit nice and proper for my food. Shake is my favorite trick though, and sometimes I’ll get confused and think giving my paw will pass for all commands. Sometimes I’m so cute – it works!! I can go on long walks and hikes or be a couch potato, just as long as my humans are around. My foster mommy says I’m a good boy at walking, I might pull a little at first when I get excited or want to go potty, but am very laid-back and will be back in focus after a correction. My crate is my safe place where I choose to sleep and have done well when my foster parents were away for an extended amount of time. I have had no accidents in the house and learned how to use the doggy door to go potty very quickly! Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?!

My foster mommy thinks I may have been left outside for most my life, so being inside is very special to me! I can be caught napping anywhere with a soft surface or underneath where ever you are. When I was rescued from the shelter I had to get a couple fatty lumps removed and one cancerous one from my booty. I recovered so well, I didn’t even have to wear the satellite dish! I was just happy to be cancer free and in a warm, loving home! I had no interest in my stitches at all! My foster mommy also had to help me recover from bad ear infections. My ears sit much more perky on my head now that the pain is gone! I still love a good ear rub though!

I will do great in any home wanting to give me love. You will always be repaid with a sugar-paw in your lap and a smile. I’m looking forward to meeting you!!
