Are you an experienced dog owner? If so, take a gander at Shamrock's little body, with his fuzzy black muzzle and floppy ears. Melts your heart, doesn't it? One thing is certain: Shamrock deserves a better life than the one he had before.

Shamrock was found downtown in a box and he was practically skin and bones. Since he's been in foster care, he's gaining weight and his energy level is picking up. Shamrock has been diagnosed with diabetes, which is being managed well with easy-to-give daily insulin shots. Understandably, he sleeps a bit right now, preferring to snuggle with his people over playing with toys, though his energy level is increasing regularly.

Shamrock would be great for someone who spends a lot of time at home and wants a furry companion to spend their days with. He does best with someone who is living alone with no children. Shamrock is very low key and loving towards his human. However, he can become fearful, anxious, and sometimes protective when other people or animals are around. Due to this, it would be best for Shamrock to be the only furry baby in the house. He is completing a training program with his foster parent in order to overcome this behavior and eventually share his loving, cuddly nature with others.

Shamrock is a smart kiddo who is already potty trained and leash trained. While he does fine in a crate, he really doesn't need to stay there while you're away. He is trustworthy enough to happily snooze by himself if you're not around to cuddle with him.

All APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And remember...when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
