My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo is a gorgeous, sweet, cuddly, strong, loyal and loving 20-month-old, 72-pound, male brindle and white Great Dane/Mastiff-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving temporary foster or permanent guardian.

Apollo is a leggy athlete who lost his human dad to gun violence in Chicago. Apollo loves every human he meets. He sidles up to you for snuggling and loves to play fetch. He lets you touch him anywhere from his big paws to his goofy lips and happily wagging tail; he is full of kisses and tail wags.

While typically calm and well-behaved in the home, Apollo rises to the occasion if there’s a rambunctious female dog wanting to play rough and tumble. He doesn’t have much use for large male dogs. For that reason, he may be best as the only dog in the home, or with a mellow yet playful large female dog.

This boy has amazing eye contact and loves to show off what he’s learned in training class. He has an automatic sit, auto down and he knows roll over! He loves working for treats. He’s looking for a family who would like to continue his education with further training. In fact, that’s included with his adoption – even though he’s already got a great start.

As long as he gets out for walks, runs and play, he’s absolutely fine in a small apartment, condo, townhouse or house! And, he loves car rides. He just wants to please and be loved.

Apollo is very healthy, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm tested and on monthly preventative. He is crate-trained and housebroken when kept on a schedule. His adoption fee of $250 benefits rescued pets.
