Penny's Story...
Hi! My name's Penny and I'm a 6 year old dachshund! I was brought to the shelter a few months ago, and am now ready to find a loving new home! I was brought to the shelter with an injured disc in my back, and could barely walk. I had to spend 6 weeks on cage rest...boy was that boring!! I can walk just fine now, but I still have to be careful not to overdo it, or I could injure my back again. I need a quiet home, without children or active dogs so that I will remain healthy and safe.

I'm up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and also have a microchip. All I need now is YOU to take me home and love me! Do you have a quiet home that would be a good fit for me? The shelter is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-5, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8, and Saturday from 10-2. Come visit!

You can see some of our adoptable pets almost every Saturday at the Petsmart in Greensburg from noon to 6pm and some Sundays too. All adoption fees include spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penny, a Youngwood Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
