Whaylen's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Whaylen is a 10 year old border collie mix. He was brought in to the local shelter for euthanasia because the owners knew he had a medical problem. The Shelter gave him a shot, and here he is! He is good with dogs and cats. He loves fetch. Whaylen was reported to have a thyroid condition and renal failure, but our vet seems to think that's not the case. We will be testing him again soon. Whaylen is a spry boy who has a ton of life left in him. He loves to play and loves his humans! His adoption fee is $100 which includes neuter, DAPP, rabies, bordetella, microchip, deworm and vet check! Go to www.powerofthepaw.org for an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Whaylen, a Rathdrum Australian Shepherd/Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie for sale in Rathdrum, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie dog from a breeder in Rathdrum.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rathdrum already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rathdrum breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Border Collie breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rathdrum paves the way for another one to be saved.
