Melanie's Story...
Birthdate: September 4, 2015. Meet Melanie! The family that owned Melanie, her sister, Widow, and her brother, Apollo, contacted a rescue group in Puerto Rico and told them they were not wanted nor could they afford the puppies. The rescuer decided to help them and asked if they would keep them while she got all their vet work done in preparation to fly them to the states to find their forever homes. The family agreed and now Melanie, Widow and Apollo have arrived, and are just the sweetest little dolls ever. They all weigh about 10 lbs. We do not know for sure what breeds they are, but we think they're maybe a mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua; they also have a slight under bite, so there could be more breeds mixed in. Melanie, Widow and Apollo are just a tiny bit shy for the first few hours, then they will not leave your side. They are also a bit standoffish with new animals, but will also warm up quickly.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Melanie, a Sterling Heights Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Sterling Heights, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Sterling Heights.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sterling Heights already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sterling Heights breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sterling Heights paves the way for another one to be saved.
