Hope's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and good with cats.

Hope's Story...
Hope is a lab mix who we estimate to be about 3 years old. She weighs around 50# - actually probably a little more than that now, she's put on a few pounds in rescue.

Hope is a very shy, but sweet young dog. She got a horrible start in life - growing up in a hoarding situation with very little human contact & even less vet care. As a result, Hope is unsure about humans. She is pretty sure she wants to be friends, but her overdeveloped sense of wariness keeps her from completely trusting people. She is working on it & has come a long way, but still has a way to go. Hope also tested positive for heartworm when she first came to rescue. Because it was a "light" positive, we've chosen to treat her with the slow kill method. She just needs to remain on heartworm prevention year round for a couple of years.

Although Hope is being fostered in a home with other dogs, she would probably do best as an only dog. She grew up in a pen with her siblings & can sometimes feel the need to dominate other dogs. Probably a habit learned when she was trying to live in cramped quarters with her siblings. Luckily, Hope shows NO dominance with people, so that is not a worry.

Hope is also good with cats. Her buddy Finn has been at all her adoption events so far & he will vouch for her good character.

Hope is looking for a quiet home with a regular schedule so that she can settle in to a safe, calm life where she can relax & know what to expect each day. Because of her shyness & tendency to bolt, she'll need either a fenced yard or an owner who will commit to always taking her out on a leash. Mostly though, Hope needs someone with an abundance of patience & empathy. Spend a few minutes with her & look in those big brown eyes. You'll see an injured soul who is hoping for someone to give her the time & structure she needs to bloom into the dog she was always meant to be.

Her adoption fee will be $150

PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in adopting this dog, please EMAIL rather than call. That way your request can be forwarded to the appropriate person/foster home & an adoption application can be forwarded to you.

You must be at least 21 years of age & Head of Household in order to adopt from our organization.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hope, a Aurora Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Aurora, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Aurora.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aurora already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aurora breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aurora paves the way for another one to be saved.
