Blackie's Story...
My name is Blackie! I was brought into the shelter with the name "Blackie" as an owner surrender. I just wasn't wanted anymore by my owners, so they decided to let me go. I'm very scared at the shelter and nervous so I hide in boxes quite a bit, and would be a lot happier in a home where there isn't so much noise. I'm very friendly and enjoy being cuddled a lot, but also play when I'm in an area that I'm comfortable. I'm only roughly 7 months old so I'm young, but I am up to date on shots, microchipped, and will be neutered prior to being adopted. Fill out an application for me at www.al-van.org today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blackie, a South Haven Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in South Haven, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in South Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
