Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We're so glad that Norman was able to stay safe as he waited in vain to be claimed at a very high-kill Texas shelter. His safety became questionable when he was slated for euthanasia. No way that the shelter rescuers could let that happen to this Schnauzer mix with the great temperament!
Arrangements were quickly made...and Norman left the shelter just in the nick of time. This truly beautiful (we'll get a photo out of the shelter environment as soon as possible) 12 - 18 month old, 13 lb Schnauzer/long haired Dachshund mix (or so the shelter vets say..he looks like a Schnauzer to us) left all the pain and misery of his previous life behind as he acclimates to the security of a foster home, great nutrition and lots of love and belly rubs
We have found...to our delight...that Norman (while initially a bit shy) warms up and is so engaging. He enjoys his time with humans...especially if it's about snuggling or walks along beautiful trails in the sunshine. Since Norman has been deprived of human attention for at least a part of his approximately 1 (or so) year life, he needs a bit of assurance that he's loved in a forever sort of way. He seems to be a little unsure... but we notice that he gains confidence every day that he interacts with well-meaning and kind humans. We envision Norman in a home with guardians that choose to spend lots of time having fun with their dogs.
Norman would be ecstatic to spend this quality time and would form a fast and forever bond. He wants to please like none other...it almost seems like he's gathered wisdom and just needs to understand the expectations of his family. A loving home that has the time and desire to form a close relationship with a pup that truly deserves it is our goal for our exceptional Norman.
Norman appears to be a non-shedding guy.. although it is difficult to tell with absolute certainty until his sad shelter coat grows out and his healthy hair shows itself. Norman will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
Norman will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/18/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this cuddly..and sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
