My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I am Dusty or Dust for short to myfriends. I am a reddish-brown and white boy, I have freckles, I am approximately 3 years old, and weigh 30 pounds. I ended up in a high kill shelter after I was surrendered from a farmer who had too many of my brothers and sisters. Not much is known about my past, but my foster mom suspects I was abused, neglected and left outside with little human interaction.

I am shy and startle easy with unknown noises, new things, and new people. I have been with my foster mom and dad for three months and I am secure and trusting of them. At first I was terrified of a leash but I'm learning that they aren’t so bad and my foster mom is working with me on walks. I am still nervous when cars go by or strangers walk up to us but I get better with each walk. I am not able to stay in my crate when my foster parents are at work as it traumatizes me and I have accidents. So I have the run of the house and do just fine as I just relax on the couch, ottoman or bed. I am agood boy and don’t chew up anything or get into things. I am house trained and know how to use a dog door but I may take a little training if you don't have one. But I am a smart boy and will learn fast. I do enjoy car rides.

I have made new friends at my foster home, four other beagles, and a cat. I like to run in the back yard and play wrestle with my beagle buddies, so a fenced in yard is a must for me. It would be nice to have another furry friend to play with in my new home. Oh yeah, on weekends I also get to spend time with my foster family’s 4 year old granddaughter. Kids are pretty awesome. I just love all the attention and snuggling that I get from my foster family. I am attached to my foster mom and I follow her everywhere as I know she loves me and I’ve never really known love before. She says that my future furever home will need to be patient with me until I get to know them, bond to them and feel secure.

So, if you are looking for a very handsome beagle with tons of love to offer and if you have some patience and love to give then I could be the boy for you!
