Facts about Mister

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Stray found at Heller's Orchard Oct 2015. They were going to shoot him but a kindhearted woman put him in her car and he found his way to us. He was soooo skinny! He must have been lost (or dumped) for a while. We posted him on the lost dogs of Luzerne/Lackawanna counties and reported him to the local SPCAs but no one seems to be missing him. He was very wild upon arrival and fearful but has made great progress here. He still has a ways to go as far as training but I think the right person who can help him is out there. Could that be you?
Again, he needs an experienced owner and/or trainer. He is a young dog not one of our typical senior residents here at the sanctuary. Can't be more than 2yrs old. Prefers women over men and needs help to stop jumping on people. He needs the right person to give him a chance.

About Mureille's Place - A Senior Dog Sanctuary

About Our Rescue Group...

Mureille’s Place is a small home-based 501c3 rescue. We are a cage-free no-kill facility that provides a safe haven for unwanted senior dogs until they can be adopted into a forever home or if unadoptable, live out their remaining days with love, dignity and respect. The sanctuary is located on 7 wooded acres that include several walking trails that the dogs enjoy year round. We are very proud that we are an all volunteer rescue and do not have any paid staff or board members and that all tax deductible donations go to the rescue operation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visits to the shelter are by appointment only. Please call Barbara at 570-579-8172 to arrange.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes a pre-adoption interview to determine the type of home you will provide and will aid us in finding the right dog for you. We prefer that the dog do a “weekend” visit or longer before adopting to ensure that both the adopter and the dog are sure that it is a good match. There is an application to be filled out, a home visit and adoption donation typically from $50 - $150 (non-refundable). All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots.

We have also launched our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we do not charge a fee at all to qualifying senior citizens who adopt one of our seniors.

We are also working on a program that would allow a senior to adopt one of our seniors and we would take care of food, vet visits etc and be a place for the dog to come back to if the adopter had health issues and needed to be hospitalized or worse, passed away and there were no family members to take the dog in. This would greatly benefit seniors on a fixed income who want to own a dog but can't provide for them or are afraid that they will not outlive the dog. We are searching for funding for this program and will launch it as soon as that funding is found.
