My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everybody! My name is Ollie. You can probably tell from my photos that I'm some sort of Dachshund mix. I have that unmistakable loooong body and short, stumpy legs to match. Am I not the most adorable pup you've ever seen?

My friends think that I am about 2 years old. It's hard to say for sure, though, because I came from a local high-kill shelter. I was dumped there by my previous owner, so I suppose it is possible that my former family knew my exact birthdate and told the staff at the shelter.

I am 20 pounds of pure sweetness! You won't find a more loving, gentle, loyal pup than me. Trust me!

I am already neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. My bags are packed and I am ready to go to my new home. I'm just waiting for you to come get me!

Speaking of my new home, let me tell you a little about what I am looking for. That way we'll know if you and I are a good match for each other.

Most importantly, I am a lap dog through and through! Because of this, I really need to go to a home that will allow me on the furniture with my family. I also request that you save me a little space on the bed at night. I don't shed much, I sleep through the night, and I'm really small, so I won't take up much room. I promise! I would be really, really sad if I were not allowed to snuggle up with you. I'm a huge cuddle bug and a kisser. It's just who I am!

If you haven't guessed already, I'm not a big fan of being alone. I was brought into the shelter with my brother, so I have never really been on my own before. It would be great if my new family were home the majority of the time or were able to send me to daycare during work hours. What would even be better, is if I could go to work with them, but I know that's asking a lot. A dog can dream, right?

I get along great with other dogs! If you have another dog in the home, that works for me. I will say, that I am more of a people dog, though. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy the company of my canine pals! My best canine friend is a dog named Leah. I follow her everywhere!

I don't need a super active family. I'm probably more of an inside dog, but I'm always up for going on a walk. I also won't pass up the opportunity to play a good game of chase. Not so much you chasing me, but me chasing you. It's not uncommon for me to run so fast that I can't stop myself and I plow right into my friends. I know, I'm silly!

Now that you know a little about what I'm looking for, let me tell you some more facts about me.

I'm about 99% housebroken. Yay! That said, I'm used to having a door to the backyard left open for me so that I can relieve myself whenever I need to. If you don't have a secure yard for me to go to, there will probably be a short adjustment period while I learn the new routine.

I'm a smart guy, but I can be a little stubborn at times. It's the Dachshund side of me! Get out a treat, though, and you'll have my undivided attention. I currently know "sit" and "speak," and I have "stay" down pretty well. I'm also learning to sit at the curb and wait for a cue before crossing the street. My best friend here thinks that is very important for me to know, so we've been working on it a lot. I'm really catching on!

I'm very good on a leash now. My friends think that I was probably never walked in my previous home. When I first came to them, I was all over the place. I didn't know that I was supposed to stay on the sidewalk and not walk in the street. I've come a long way!

I love toys! I mean, I'm obsessed with toys! Tennis balls are probably my favorite. No, wait, stuffed animals and Nylabones are. Who am I kidding? I don't have a favorite type of toy. They're all my favorites!

Enough about me. I could go on and on about how wonderful I am, but I want to hear more about you. If you think I would make a great companion for you then please don't hesitate to contact Cagefree and tell them you want to meet me. I'd love to get to know you!
