My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Attention everyone: Watson is coming to Penny Angels! His previous owner from rural South Carolina surrendered him because he was not a good hunter, but it turns out that he is a great dog! He lived in a foster home for 3 weeks and had a big following of fans from the PABR Group on Facebook! This is what his foster mom learned about Watson while he was living with her:

“Watson is approximately 7 years young. He is a smaller beagle weighing 21 pounds. When he came into Rescue he weighed 17 lbs. He looks great and this is a good weight for him. He was a wonderful houseguest; he did not chew or destroy anything in the house and he rarely barked or howled inside. He is housetrained; he used the doggie door like a champ and was very easy to train. He had free rein of the house and behaved perfectly fine when I was gone. He is a good eater and is NOT food aggressive at all!

“Watson gets along with all people and children; he can be around crazy, loud preschoolers, but he can just as easily chill with the seniors. When he first meets people, he may be a little shy, but he is not afraid of anyone. He likes all dogs both big and small and has learned to play with them. He does not play with toys, but he has really enjoyed learning to play in the yard. I do believe he enjoys the company of another dog, but would also do fine by himself. He is great with cats, too!

“Watson loves to go for walks! He got very excited and ran to the door whenever I put his harness on. He went on at least two walks daily… 1 mile each time… with a variety of other dogs. He has a lot of stamina so he is a good dog to walk long distances. He is also great in the car; he liked looking out the window, but mostly he curled up in the front seat and went to sleep.

“Watson is a sweet, calm dog that is very well adjusted, even with the past he has endured. He has come a long way since we first rescued him. He gained some much needed weight and his hair and ears look and feel so soft. He started to come to me for attention on his own and would even come when called. He would walk upstairs to find me, but he was not an attention hog, so that made him a pleasant dog to have around. He was happy to do his own thing when I was busy. He liked sleeping as well as walking and playing. You will not find a better dog than this boy! He will fit into your schedule and lifestyle.”

Watson will be arriving in Rescue on 3-19-16 and will be at Petsmart in the afternoon if you are interested in meeting him. Please fill out an application and submit it to Penny Angels if you think Watson is a good fit for you!
