Henry, aka Goofball, is a happy, energetic young Lab mix who loves walks, belly rubs and just hanging out with his human!

He is friendly, adores water and loves to play.

Henry needs a patient owner, but once he trusts you, he is all in! He loves every human he meets and can be quite exuberant. Henry can be quite puppy-like at times, with selective hearing skills :)

He is doing very well with learning manners, but will test you if he is in that playful mood. He will do anything for a treat.

The perfect situation for Henry includes a fenced yard because he loves to hang out in the yard and is very quiet. He would do best with an active owner, frequent walks, additional training and structure.

Henry seems to be OK with low-key dogs, but would not do well with dogs who are amped or in his face. No little dogs and no kitties around this boy — he will chase! He would be perfectly fine as an only dog. He is great on the leash with a training collar. He still does not want to give you the things he values..... a ball, a kong.... but he will drop for his foster mom if she has food.

Henry is looking for a patient family that has experience with large dogs, to teach him manners. Is there room in your family, and your heart, for dear Mr. Goofball?

GRRSWF will consider applicants outside of our normal area for Henry, but applicants must live in the state of Florida and be willing to travel to meet Henry.

All GRRSWF dogs have undergone a full examination by a veterinarian, and any health concerns have been addressed. If you are interested in learning more about Henry, please contact us at applications@grrswf.org, or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://www.grrswf.org/index-2.html

PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Ocala.

If you live OUTSIDE of our service area and are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please note that we will only consider an application for senior dogs (over the age of 8) or dogs with special needs (usually medication).  BEFORE submitting your application, send an email to info@GRRSWF.org to request an exception to our service area. If that approval is given, you will be asked to complete an application, clearly stating on it that you are interested in a special needs or senior dog.  However, please be aware that, unfortunately, there are some locations we simply cannot cover because we do not have sufficient representation in those areas to perform the required home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward. If that is the case, we will be happy to refer you to a local rescue or shelter.

About Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida, Inc. (GRRSWF) is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization. Based in Southwest Florida, Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida is dedicated to finding exceptional homes for exceptional Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes that are homeless, abandoned in Shelters, or surrendered by their owners.

Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida works to raise awareness of the plight of the Golden Retriever breed specifically through community education as well as the benefits of adopting a rescue animal in need. We also support and promote responsible spay and neutering, as well as programs that are designed to prevent animal abuse, neglect and cruelty.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are placed in loving foster homes who evaluate them while treating them as one of their own family, so we do not have a formal boarding facility. Once you have identified a dog of interest and have submitted an application, then you will be able to schedule a visit to the foster home and the first meeting with your new family member.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters are asked to complete and application form, GRRSWF will perform a vet check followed by a telephone interview with the adopter, we will then set up a home visit in order to make the best possible match between the dog and it's new home. We do not charge any application fees. Adoption donations are on a sliding scale according to the dog's age and medical needs.
