Millie's Story...
Millie is a large female who is about 4-5 years of age. She has a nice, easy going personality and will do well in a home with other dogs and/or cats. Millie is protective of her person and property. She was not especially found of the gardener who came to do some yard work recently. She only barked at him and was easily called back by her foster mom. It's possible that a man could have been mean to her in the past based on her reaction.

GSRCA rescued Millie after receiving a call about an injured dog. She had wandered up to a nice lady's house after apparantly being hit by a car. She had multiple scrapes, road burn and a broken leg. We took Millie to the orthopedic specialist in Birmingham, Dr. Milton. He said the fracture was stable and applied a cast which was removed six weeks later. Unfortunately Millie tested positive for heartworms so was successfully treated for that after her leg got well.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Millie, a Pike Road German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Pike Road, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Pike Road.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pike Road already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pike Road breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pike Road paves the way for another one to be saved.
