Scruffy's Story...

More pictures coming soon!

Scruffy was born March 3, 2008 in a GSRCA foster home. His mom is Mandy - who can be seen on the 'soon to be available' section of our website. We are unsure of who his father is because Mandy was pregnant when she came into our rescue. We suspect there is some lab mixed in.

Scruffy is just over 3 months of age and weighs about 25 pounds. When he was smaller it was really hard to tell him apart from Scamper so we noticed a white mark on his chin that reminded us of a scruffy beard. Scruff is a very loving, playful pup who is ready for a family to call his own! He loves water! and rides well crated in a car.

This dog is neutered, up to date on shots and HW negative. Adoption application, home visit, and $150 adoption fee are required. Please read our adoption requirements on our home page.

After reviewing GSRCA’s adoption process, please fill out the application completely. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until the application has been received.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scruffy, a Pike Road German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Pike Road, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Pike Road.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pike Road already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pike Road breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pike Road paves the way for another one to be saved.
