Sweet Nina has settled in very well in her foster home, where her foster mom says she's a very well behaved, very loving gal. WRS has Nina on a canine weight watchers plan and she's slowly trimming down. Nina is an older girl whose favorite thing is protecting her house from those pesky squirrels. If you're looking for a quiet, low energy weim, Nina might just be the perfect pup for you! If interested, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com!

Today is a big day for both Nina and Oliver! Both dogs are moving to new foster homes. Nina, who was abandoned at a Louisiana shelter, has successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now available for adoption. Nina is an older, quiet girl who is looking for a low energy home. Oliver has spent the week with a wonderful foster home, but that was always supposed to be a temporary foster. He's now moving to a foster home that is very experienced with fostering puppies so he can continue on his journey toward good health.

Sweet Nina was surrendered to a New Orleans area shelter back in March. She was very overweight, heartworm positive, and she needed WRS to get her out ASAP! Our wonderful volunteers moved quickly to get her to safety and Nina has been in a foster home since then, preparing for heartworm treatment, which starts next week. Nina has also started a diet to help her lose some much needed weight. Nina is about 8 years old, incredibly sweet, does well with other dogs, and has excellent house manners. She will be ready for adoption after she completes heartworm treatment. Nina would love a quieter home where someone will take her on leisurely strolls every day. Nina does well with well-behaved children. If interested in Nina, please submit an application for adoption at www.weimrescue.com.

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
