This sweet boy is Lufkin. Lufkin came to the rescue after being picked up from a farmer's field and it was apparent to his foster family that he had never been an inside dog before.
Lufkin is enjoying being an inside dog and getting to run in his fenced yard. He is a delightfully happy, playful dog who is full of energy and eager to learn new things. Lufkin loves people and other dogs, and is very eager to bounce and play with both.
He enjoys playing on land and in water, but he really loves to run and play with his cloth toys. In Lufkin's foster home he is never left alone for more than a few hours at a time, and would do well with having a similar arrangement in his forever home. He is a very vocal boy, and wants to let his people know when he hears loud noises or people nearby.
Lufkin needs to be placed in a home with another playful dog who can match his energy level. He would be the perfect fit as a companion animal for another energetic dog, child, or active adult who can spend time continuing to work on his house and leash manners.
Lufkin is still very much a pup and is currently being trained by an experienced large breed owner. Using a gentle leader (which you can see in some of his photos) provides Lufkin the opportunty to finesse his leash manners for his future forever human. This trainig device is NOT a muzzle nor is it being used to keep Lufkin from biting. It is a physiologically ideal mechanism for promoting a safe and positive association during leash training for pups who are excitable and tend to pull hard enough that a walking harness or a standard neck collar can cause injury to their esophogus.
Lufkin is a submissive male, loves everyone, and adapts quickly in order to please his human companions. He has never shown any aggression toward a myriad of other dogs or people that he has met.
He would, in fact, be a perfect dog for a famiy with children because he is so loving and playful with them.
If you have been looking for your ideal road trip partner that will both show and tell you just how much he loves you every day, then you are the perfect fit for Lufkin!
All of our dogs require secure and VISIBLE fencing.
