My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opal is fostered in Lancaster Texas 75146 through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. To find out more about Opal, contact her foster mamma at Yorkielove0409@yahoo.com.
Opal, a very sweet 8 lb., approx. 9 yr. old Yorkie Chihuahua mix came to United Yorkie Rescue in March 2016 from a shelter where she was reported to be a stray. She's very sweet but has probably seen some pretty hard times in her life. She displays the characteristics of a little girl who has spent most (if not all) of her life in a cage as a breeder dog, or hoarding situation. Although her paw pads are very soft, her nails were 3” long and her legs are very weak, a sign that she's not developed the muscles through use of normal day to day activity. She physically appears to have had many litters of puppies. This little girl hasn't lived the grand life of a beloved pet, she doesn’t trust yet but her little tail is starting to wag and when it does our hearts melt. She's learning what freedom is about, sunshine, fresh air, grass, and soft warm beds for naps. Opal's health was neglected, and as a result her mouth is full of decayed teeth that will likely need to be pulled, as well as getting spayed and up to date on her shots. This sweetie is looking for a forever home where her people will be understanding of her life story, willing to provide her with lots of love and patience as she learns so many new things. A fenced yard would be nice too, no small children and hopefully a small dog her size to be a companion and help her learn. As Opal begins her 'Happily Ever After' story, her foster mamma will be working with her on learning to trust humans, snuggling, going for walks, learning to potty outside and looking for her forever home where she'll be fed nutritious food the rest of her life.
